21 faculty member, scholar felicitated with Research Awards

PNN/ Faridabad: Continuing its efforts to enhance research quality, and to foster research culture, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad today gave away JC Bose Excellence ‘2nd Research Awards’ to 21 faculty members and research scholars to give recognition to their research work. The Award comprises a certificate of merit, and cash prizes between Rs. 50,000 and 5 lakh are given for publication of research papers in Science Citation Index (SCI) or Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) Research Journals listed as per University Research Policy.
The Research Awards were distributed in a function organized in online mode by the University and cash rewards were given for 17 selected research papers authored by the faculty and research scholars of the University during the year 2019-20.
Prof. Christian Gloeggler from HS Ulm University, Germany, who is also a Researcher at Mercedes Benz Stuttgart, Germany was Chief Guest and Prof. Joachim Ahrens, Head of International Affairs, PFH University Goettingen, Germany was Guest ofHonour in the Award Ceremony. The Program was presided over by Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the University. Dr.Gagan Syal, Founder and CEO of Yes Germany, was also present on this occasion. The International Affairs Cell of the University was involved in bringing these dignitaries for the ceremony.
Both the invited dignitaries from Germany applauded the University’s initiative to promote the research. Prof. Gloeggler emphasized on the importance of the role of research in Universities for the sustainability and development of the nation. He also talked about Indo-German joint Research cooperation which spans over 60 years. Prof. Ahrens emphasized on the importance of research for students and scholars and expressed desire for joint research collaboration with J.C. Bose University in applied research.
Addressing the award function, the Vice Chancellor reiterated that the University is committed to foster a research culture by encouraging research initiatives and would allocate upto a total of Rs. 1 Crore for the Research Activities.
He said that the University has established a Research Promotion Board for the promotion of research activities in the University. The University has recently procured research equipment costing to about Rs. 8 Crore besides development of new research laboratories and upgradation of existing laboratory infrastructure.
Further, the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in every sphere of knowledge is being promoted and efforts are being made to strengthen the linkage between academia and industries. He hoped that the institution of ‘Research Awards’ would further improve the quality of research work in the University.
Speaking on this occasion, Dean, Research and Consultancy Prof. Rajesh Ahuja informed about the steps taken by the University for the Promotion of research. He said that a full time Ph.D. was started by the University in the year 2017 and a research scholarship is being provided to one student from every department. The University has signed MoUs and collaboration with research organizations to enhance the quality of research.
The faculty members those were given cash prizes include Prof.Vikram Singh, Prof. Arvind Gupta, Prof. Pradeep Dimri, Prof. Anju Gupta, Dr.Maneesha Garg, Dr.SapnaGambhir, Dr.Shailender Gupta, Dr. Mani Kant Yadav, Dr. Rashmi Chawla, Dr.Umesh Kumar, Dr.Parveen K. Goyal, Dr.Lalit Mohan Goyal, Dr. Kaushal Kumar, Ms. Sangeeta Dhall and Ms. Shivi Garg. The research scholars who were awarded include Mr. Rajender Kumar Tayal, Ms. Neelam Rani, Mr. Sachin Gupta, Ms. Anshul Chopra, Mr. Rinku Sharma and Mr. Bhupender Singh.
It is worth mentioning that the University has instituted three categories of Research Awards namely Commendable Research Award of Rs. 50,000, Premier Research Award of Rs. One Lakh and Outstanding Research Award of Rs. 5 Lakh, for publication of research paper in SCI/SCIE Journal, depending upon the nature of Journal and its impact factor. As per the Award criteria, a regular University faculty or a University student, who is registered for any degree, can apply for the award with their research papers published every year. The publication to be considered for award should be in the Science Citation Index or Science Citation Index Expanded Journals of publisher as documented in policy.
